Delhi to offer cash to scrap old cars, buy EVs
Delhi is unveiling a policy that rewards motorists for scrapping ageing vehicles and switching to electric alternatives. Owners of Delhi-registered BS-IV or older models who scrap them at authorised centres and buy an EV within six months will qualify for cash incentives. Govt also plans to extend relief through exemptions on road tax and registration fees.
Blame game over CAFE-2 dues stalls rollout of new fuel norms
A high-level meeting in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Monday laid bare the bureaucratic drift that has stalled enforcement of Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency (CAFE-2) norms, with officials from multiple ministries trading blame over more than ₹8,000 crore in penalties yet to be recovered from non-compliant carmakers.
